All eyes are on Thailand as the country prepares to host the 2026 International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Annual Meetings, also known as the 2026 Annual Meetings or AM2026 Thailand. This year, the meetings will be held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok, from October 12th-18th, 2026.
Overview of the 2026 IMF–WBG Annual Meetings
Each year, the Annual Meetings are held by the IMF and WBG to connect central bankers with ministers of finance and development, representatives from civil society organizations and think tanks, and private sector executives.
These top figures convene to discuss a wide range of topics, from the world economic outlook and global financial stability to the eradication of poverty and creation of inclusive economic growth.
Why Thailand?
As host, Thailand brings decades worth of experience in economic transformation and regional leadership to the table. The country is also an economic leader and hub within the Southeast Asian region, featuring investment-friendly policies and modern infrastructure.
Thailand last hosted the Annual Meetings in 1991. With the meetings held every third year in one of the 191 member countries, Thailand being chosen to host again in 2026 highlights how the country has advanced over the past three decades in terms of its institutional progress, economic resilience, and sustained engagement with international partners.
What to expect at AM2026 Thailand
The 2026 IMF–WBG Annual Meetings will see the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) gather in Thailand’s capital Bangkok.
As with every other year, the Board will meet to discuss the ongoing challenges currently faced by the global economy, as well as to decide major policy issues in relation to the two organizations’ future work.
With Thailand serving as host this year, the Annual Meetings’ will be held under the theme of “Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience.” Therefore, the meetings will focus on enhancing people’s potential and creating opportunities, with the goal of fostering a financial and economic system that is safe, sustainable, and inclusive.
Participants will be welcomed at the specially designed IMF–WBG Annual Meetings Landmark, located at the famous Benjakitti Park. Care and attention have been given to every detail, from the cuisine and flower arrangements to the welcome gifts crafted by local artisans, to showcase Thai culture and hospitality.
