If you are a gamer who just also happens to be a fan of cosmic horror, then attending Necronomi-Jam is a must! A brand new Lovecraftian-themed game development competition, Necronomi-Jam, is scheduled to take place concurrently in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Khon Kaen from July 24th to 26th, 2026.
Calling all cosmic horror fans
From Call of Cthulhu to Color out of Space, H.P. Lovecraft left behind an enduring legacy of cosmic horror. And now, with Necronomi-Jam, you can be a part of that legacy.
The Lovecraftian-themed game development competition, organized by Game Dev Hub, gives game enthusiasts the space to turn their ideas into real games. Under the rules of the competition, participants must develop games that are thematically and story-wise in accordance with the Lovecraftian style.
Unlike other competitions, however, the overarching genre that participants have to work with will be kept under wraps, only to be unveiled during the opening ceremony on the July 24th.
One other element that sets Necronomi-Jam apart is its embrace of AI. Throughout the course of the event, competitors will learn how to use AI to assist them in character creation, world building, gameplay design, as well as creating a working prototype and pitching.
Aside from the main competition, participants can also expect the following:
- Workshops and Talks: Gain insight into the professional game industry by engaging with AAA-level judges and industry veterans.
- Portfolio Review: Secure your future as event sponsors and judges go over your résumé.
- Prizes and Rewards: Become eligible for up to 80,000 baht in prizes from Viverse, 1 million baht in AWS Cloud credits, and more!
