Thailand is renowned in the global gems & jewelry market as a source of some of the most beautiful gemstones. Thailand’s gems & jewelry industry has created over a million jobs across the value chain and exports grew 49.17% to US$12.85 billion in the January to November 2025 period (excluding unwrought gold).

Famous for its heat treatment knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation, Thai artisanal jewelers are known for their world-class craftsmanship. Thai jewelry differs from province to province: for instance, Kanchanaburi is famous for its blue sapphire, while Chiang Mai is known for silver and Bangkok’s Chinatown for trading in all types, sizes, and styles of gold.
