TEDxUTCC 2022: So Sad, So Say

TEDxUTCC 2022 will be organized at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. This year’s TEDxUTCC will be held under the theme of “So Sad, So Say (โซซัดโซเซ).”

This year’s theme “So Sad, So Say (โซซัดโซเซ)” puts the focus on mental health. Around the world, one in seven people aged 10–19 have been medically diagnosed with mental illnesses, and nearly 46,000 teenagers died by suicide—one of the top five causes of teen death in Thailand.

In 2021, Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health revealed that 28% of 180,000 of Thais under the age of 20 are at risk of high stress, 32% are at risk of depression, and 22% are at risk of suicide.

TEDxUTCC is tackling depression by creating a space for self expression, understanding, and listening free of judgment.

Event highlights

TEDxUTCC will hold talks and performances under a variety of topics drawing from the direct experiences and ideas of seven speakers as well as two performers. Here are some hints for the speakers at this year’s TEDxUTCC: So Sad, So Say:

Unlike other TEDx events, TEDxUTCC 2022: So Sad, So Say only provides cryptic hints to the identities of its speakers.

Apart from the talks, the event this year will feature an exhibition and a collaborative space for attendees to share different perspectives and spread ideas creatively.

Be sure to register for TEDxUTCC before November 11th. For more information about the event, visit the TEDxUTCC Facebook Page, Instagram, or reach out via email at tedxutcc@gmail.com.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.

TEDxUTCC was started by a group of volunteers inside and outside of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. They believe that the power of “ideas” can change people’s attitudes which lead to real actions and create a positive change to society. This is done through speakers’ and performers’ presentations that are carefully curated by UTCC, to deliver powerful and inspiring messages to the listeners in under 18 minutes (the “right” amount of time to accept new ideas and bring those ideas to life).

TEDxUTCC was established to be an independent space for students, teachers, and alumni to experiment and collaborate together as volunteers. They aim to enable creativity, build experiences, advance life skills, and build friendships with fellow volunteers. TEDxUTCC wants to support a range of ideas to create a “community” that is made up of diverse identities, ways of thinking, and perspectives on life, that continues to create better changes for yourself and the society.
