Isan Creative Festival (ISANCF2026) returns for its sixth edition with the theme “NORTHEAST MODERN – Abundance | Adaptation | Connectivity,” celebrating the creative spirit and cultural richness of Thailand’s northeastern region. The festival will take place from July 11th to 19th, 2026, across four main zones in Khon Kaen.
What to expect at Isan Creative Festival
ISANCF2026 will highlight “Dern” (or “เดิ้น”), a modern expression of Northeastern Thailand, or Isan, that signifies confidence in its own values and identity. “Dern” reflects how the region is building on its cultural heritage to shape a creative and forward-looking future. The event serves as a platform to transform the region’s identity into one that is livable, investable, and full of charm, while showcasing the charms of Isan through its music, food, crafts, design, film, and so much more.
Over the course of nine days, festival-goers can explore more than 200 programs across seven types of activities: Academic Programs, Creative Business Platforms, Showcases & Exhibitions, Talks & Workshops, Events & Entertainment Programs, the D-KAK Creative Market, and Creative District Projects.
1. Academic Programs
- Isan Creativity and Innovation Summit 2026 – A landmark international design and innovation summit hosted by Khon Kaen University.
- KKU CHIC – A forum that serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge in food, culture, consumer behavior, and creative business between Thai and Chinese entrepreneurs.
2. Creative Business Platforms
- ISANCF x KUPPER Art Fes 2026: UpForce – A vibrant art festival bringing together regional artists, galleries, and collectors under the theme of boundless creativity.
- Virtual Production & CreativeTech – A series of panel discussions and talks where real-world workflows in the modern creative media production landscape are shared.
3. Exhibitions & Showcases
- Isan Studio Showcase – A display of works from 30 standout studios that adapt aspects of Isan culture into functional lifestyle items.
- The Isan Rainy Season Exhibition – An immersive exhibition showcasing digital art, seasonal ingredients, and products that blend local wisdom with contemporary innovation.
- The NORTHEAST MODERN Exhibition – A showcase of innovations and case studies from all 20 northeastern provinces, highlighting Isan’s creativity, progress, and future potential.
4. Creative Talks & Workshops
- Isan Creative Talk 2026: Isan Modern – A creative forum exploring the success behind Isan’s cultural capital, soft power, and the emerging drivers of the region’s creative economy.
- Basics of Trend Forecasting: Lifestyle Colours – A 3-hour intensive workshop that provides insight into how professional forecasters spot emerging trends and apply them to strategic brand planning.
5. Events & Entertainment Programs
- Mueng Kaen Dance Festival – Festivities showcasing reinterpretations of traditional Isan culture through contemporary dance.

About Isan Creative Festival
The Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA organizes the Isan Creative Festival in collaboration with creative entrepreneurs, creator networks, as well as the public, private, and civil sectors of the Isan (northeastern) region.
Traditionally, Isan Creative Festival is held in Khon Kaen province, the political and commercial center of Northeast Thailand. The event mirrors the creative festivals organized by the CEA in other regions of Thailand, such as the Pakk Taii Design Week in the South, Chiang Mai Design Week in the North, and Bangkok Design Week in the capital.
