Bangkok Design Week returns from January 29th to February 8th, 2026 under the theme “DESIGN S/O/S: Secure Domestic / Outreach Opportunities / Sustainable Future.”
Now in its ninth consecutive year, this year’s festival brings together creators, designers, entrepreneurs, developers, and the wider public to expand the role of design beyond aesthetics. Design is positioned as a practical tool, one that can help drive the economy, improve quality of life, and respond to social, environmental, and economic challenges.
The city will once again transform neighborhoods into open, walkable creative districts. Through exhibitions, workshops, talks, performances, markets, and hands-on programs, the festival invites the public to engage directly with design in real urban contexts. Previous years’ themes include “Design Up+Rising: Facing Challenges with a Positive Twist” (2025) and “Livable Scape” (2024).
The event will take place over 11 days across four main districts: Charoenkrung–Talat Noi, Phra Nakhon, Pak Khlong Talat, and Bang Lamphu–Khaosan, along with additional venues throughout Bangkok.

“DESIGN S/O/S” explores three directions for action

The theme “DESIGN S/O/S” frames design as an urgent call to action rather than a conceptual question. It asks, “What can design do?” and responds by positioning design as a force that helps society survive and move forward amid global uncertainty.
This year’s theme is explored through three key pillars:
S – Secure Domestic
Design as a tool to strengthen the domestic market, set new standards, and stimulate economic activity from within.
O – Outreach Opportunities
Design as a connector that creates new opportunities, builds collaborations, and opens pathways toward the global stage.
S – Sustainable Future
Design as a driver for bold, innovative approaches toward sustainability and long-term resilience, ready to face future challenges.
Together, these pillars present design as a shared resource for businesses, cities, and communities.
